About me
"We do not get what we want. We get what we need" (Sioux Indians)
Born February 26, 1992, Valentina has grown in the province of Milan (Italy).
Even as a child, she began to write poems: the first when she was five.
Since then, she has continued to devote herself to studying, prose and poetry,
participating in several competitions. Among those, when she was nine, the "Gae's tale" competition,
in memory of Gaetano Scirea; two of her poems, Le torri gemelle (The twin towers)
and Il paese distante (Country away) are published in an anthology edited by Ibiskos Publishing
in the series "Anniverdi".
She read her poems in television too during the quiz show "Genius" hosted by Mike Bongiorno.
At the end of eighth grade, she began writing her first novel, a fantasy, a symbolic tale of her childhood
and her adolescence set in another world, full of strong emotions and ideas on the subject of growth,
courage and of addressing their own fears.
The book has been published in October, by Zephyro Editions.
In June 2009 she won the first and second prize in the "Contest of young poetry", held in the city
of Cinisello Balsamo (Milan), with the two poems Infanzia rubata
(Stolen childhood) and Fermate il tempo (Stop Time).
The poem Siamo poeti (We are poets) was selected as a finalist
at the "Artistrada of Colmurano (Macerata)" festival, among about 490 participants.
In autumn 2009, with the poem Donna libera (Free woman),
she won the second prize of "Award for creative writing Lella Razza", S.Angelo Lodigiano (Lodi);
first prize in the Youth Section of the International Poetry and Figurative competition organized
by the non-profit association La Finestra Eterea
with the poem E la gente tesse la tela (And people weave the web).
She also won the special prize of the jury of the art competition "Massa, fabulous city of sea and marble 2009"
with the peom Trasferimento a Sestri Levante (Transfer to Sestri Levante).
In November 2009, she ranks first in the Youth Section of the prestigious International Poetry Prize Monza 2009, XI Edition, rewarded in the Villa Reale of Monza,
with the poem Il vento tra i ciliegi (The wind in the cherry trees).
Maggio 2010 sees her third place in the competition "for Poetry e Prose Fazio degli Uberti" (Pisa), with the poem Sotto il silenzio (Under the silence), dedicated to the park; meanwhile she is engaged in the review of her second and third novels, and in January 2011 Montedit has published her book of poems Selva di Luce (Forest of light).
In recent months, she wrote a lot of poems, different themes and metrics, but always rhyme,
because she believes that "Poetry is a dance of words" and so, as well as a deep meaning,
they must have a lively rhythm.
The "Citizen of Monza and Brianza" has published an article on her on November 7, 2009:
The "Journal of Desio" has published this article on December 13, 2011:
